Women's Golf Brings in Talented Recruiting Class for 2012

JACKSON - Head Coach Eddie Brescher announced his recruiting class of 2012 for Women's Golf as he welcomes in four girls from four different states. The four makes up an outstanding class as Coach Brescher wraps up his first season and prepares for his year two as Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Golf Team. The four will join Lauren Barattini as she looks forward to her sophomore season.

  • 2012 Winner of Mississippi POP Star Award (awarded to the #1 female golfer in MS)
  • Three time Mississippi Tri-State Team Member since 2010 (Tri-State Champs in 2010)
  • 2012 High School District Champion (73)
  • 2010-11 Attended the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy
  • Competed on the International Junior Golf Tour
  • 2011 Big "I" Qualifier (82, 78)
  • 2011 Big "I" National Championship Participant (88, 84)
  • 2011 MWGA Girls Junior Am. (80, 76)
  • 2011 16th Annual Future Tour Championship (81, 75- 9th place)
  • Played in the USGA Girls Junior Am. Qualifier @ Shoal Creek

Coach Brescher: "Lauren is an exceptional student-athlete. She has proven herself both in the classroom and on the golf course to be a leader for many years to come.  Her tournament experience speaks volumes for how talented she is.  Lauren is a very hard worker and she strives for excellence with everything she does.  We anticipate Lauren to produce some great awards as a Millsaps Major."

Coach Brescher: "Whitney is a very athletic person.  She is very talented with both golf and lacrosse as she will play both sports while at Millsaps.  She has a great personality and a great work ethic to improve every day.  Whitney has a lot of leadership qualities and we will utilize those qualities from her during her collegiate career."

The four will start their collegiate careers on October 8th as they will compete in the Birmingham-Southern Shootout as a new member of the Southern Athletic Association.
