ITHACA, N.Y. – A pair of juniors,
Will Hawkins and
Aaron Williams, from Millsaps College have been named to the 2010
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Second Team as voted upon by more than 2,300 members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hawkins earned Second Team honors for the second time in as many years posting a 3.31 Grade Point Average while majoring in geology. The junior from Nettleton, Miss., finished another stellar season hitting for a .353 batting average while starting all 40 games for the Majors.
Williams picked up his first Academic All-District award with a 3.76 GPA as a biology major. A native of Covington, La., Williams capped a brilliant year for Millsaps with a perfect 7-0 record on the hill while posting a team-best 3.32 ERA.
The Academic All-District VI team is comprised of student-athletes from schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Since 1952, the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams recognize student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. The All-District Teams originated in 2002.
