SAN ANTONIO, Texas - In its final road game of the season, the Millsaps College women's basketball team dropped its 22nd straight game of the season to remain winless as Trinity University cruised to the conference victory Sunday afternoon, 77-45.
With the loss, the Majors are eliminated from playoff contention as they fall to 0-22 overall and 0-13 in the SCAC while the Tigers improve to 15-6 overall and 9-4 in the SCAC and currently sit in third place in the SCAC West Division.
Trinity controlled play the entire first half taking a 39-25 lead into halftime and continued to add to its lead by outscoring Millsaps 38-20 in the second half for the win.
Freshman forward
Shante' Morton led the Majors with 11 points and eight rebounds and was the only Millsaps player to record double figures.
Deonna Walton added seven rebounds and
Pamela Jackson scored seven points in the contest.
Trinity's Ali Marzella led all scorers with 24 points connecting on 6-of-16 3-point attempts while registering a team-best seven assists.
Kelsey Goodell scored 12 points and Lindsey Hovland pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds for the Tigers.
The Majors return home for a match-up with conference opponent Hendrix College on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. The game will be a Shoot out for Cancer: Think Pink Game sponsored by the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the women’s basketball team.
