CONWAY, Ark. - Playing three matches in two days on a road trip to Hendrix College, the Millsaps College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and a pair of SCAC matches to Hendrix College and Rhodes College.
The Majors, still winless on the season at 0-7, opened the weekend with an 8-1 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor as the Crusaders swept through doubles quickly before taking five of six singles matches.
Olivia Coats got her first victory of the season winning at the No. 6 singles position Friday.
"Olivia stepped up with some big points to record the victory" head coach Jay Pacelli said.
Facing SCAC foe and host Hendrix on Saturday morning, the Majors were again swept in doubles before dropping a pair of singles matches in straight sets to conclude the match played to decision.
Against Rhodes, Millsaps found itself down 3-0 after doubles action and lost two singles positions to end the match played to decision.
Millsaps continues to be devastated by injuries as
Lauren Williams suffered an ankle injury against Rhodes and could not compete the rest of the match.
"It's tough to play against quality teams short-handed" Pacelli said.
Up next, the Majors travel to Clinton, Miss., Thursday afternoon for a match against rival Mississippi College beginning at 2 p.m.
