JACKSON – The Millsaps College women’s basketball team scored its second-lowest point total of the season as visiting DePauw University led from the opening tip and dominated its way to a 71-35 SCAC victory at The Hangar Dome Sunday afternoon.
The conference-leading Tigers (13-3, 6-1 SCAC) have now won 17-of-18 games against the Majors in the all-time series while Millsaps falls to 0-16 on the season and 0-7 in the conference.
DePauw’s Jenna Fernandez scored all eight of her points in the first half, including four of the games first eight points as the Tigers jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead.

Megan Bauerle finally got the Majors on the scoreboard with a free throw three minutes into the contest.
The Tigers continued to pressure the Millsaps backcourt not allowing any quality shot attempts and opened a 24-6 advantage with a 3-pointer from Lindsay Vandivier midway through the first half.

Jasmine Harbor and
Kristin Salmon scored the next six points as the Majors tried to get back into the game down 24-12.
DePauw responded by closing the half with three 3-point baskets to take a commanding 39-20 lead at the half.
Starting the second half, the Tigers took advantage of Millsaps turnovers and went on a 23-5 scoring run where they held the Majors without a field goal for eight minutes.
The Tigers went to the bench down the stretch as they cruised to a 71-35 road victory.
All nine players dressed for the Majors saw action and made the score sheet led by Salmon’s nine points.
DePauw had 11 players score in the game with Kate Walker leading the way with 14 points while Katie Aldrich added 12 points off the bench.
Millsaps will take some much-needed time off from action and hit the road for a pair of conference games next weekend as they face Rhodes College and Birmingham-Southern College, January 22 and 24.
