Millsaps Wraps Up Second Spring Event at Black Bear GC

DELHI, La. -- In the Majors' second of three events slated for the spring season, Millsaps improved 17 shots on the second day to fire a two-day score of 687 and finish in seventh place at the MS College/Louisiana College Spring Invitational at Black Bear Golf Course.
Sophomore Jerry Johnston finished tied for 19th out of a field of 40 players, carding a 76 on the opening day, followed by an 84 for a two-day total of 16-over par. Adam Haywood, Madison Field and Gabe Aguilar each improved from Day 1 to Day 2, improving by 11, 11 and five strokes respectively.
Senior Freddie Brackin highlighted the two-day tournament for Millsaps with back-to-back eagles on No. 13 and 14 in the final day of competition.
Texas-Tyler won the event by seven strokes (613) over second place University of Texas-Dallas (620), with Meridian CC (624), LeTourneau University (626), Mississippi College (627) and Louisiana College (659) rounding out the field.
LeTourneau's Joel Thelan led all golfers with back-to-back 74's for a 148.
Millsaps will close out the spring schedule April 24-26 at the SCAC Championships in Tunica, Miss., at nationally-renowned Tunica National Golf Course.
