Four Majors Named D3football.com All-South Region

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior linebacker Will Hawkins of Millsaps College was one of four Majors named to the D3football.com All-South Region Team today, earning first team honors after a breakout season in which he was also recognized as the SCAC's Defensive Player of the Year with a league and career-best 102 tackles.
The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 205 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen in all.
Joining Hawkins on the All-South Region Team were junior safety Kevin Peters and junior return specialist Michael Galatas – both second team selections – and sophomore running back Shane Bowser who was named to the third team.
Anyone named to the D3football.com All-Region teams is eligible for All-American consideration. The All-American team will be announced on the Stagg Bowl pregame show on Dec. 19. The team will then be posted on D3football.com after the game.
