SUWANEE, Ga. - Coming off its fourth straight 7-win season for just a second time in the school's history, the Millsaps College football team was rewarded with a school-record tying 20 All-SCAC Football selections today announced by the league office, including the SCAC Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Year.
Also, in exclusive voting by the head coaches of the conference, Alex Koors of DePauw was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Year, Kyle Trella of Trinity University was named Newcomer of the Year and DePauw's Robby Long was voted the league's Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a 7-3 record and NCAA Playoff appearance.
Junior linebacker
Will Hawkins, the reigning SCAC Offensive Player of the Year on the diamond, became the first player in SCAC history out of the four major sports to be named the Player of the Year in both baseball and football, boasting Defensive POTY honors. Liz Bondi of DePauw is the only other player in league history to win both, doing it in basketball and tennis in 2006 and 2007.
