Major Men Close Season at SCAC Championship Meet

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Millsaps men’s cross country team competed in the 2009 SCAC Championship meet hosted by Oglethorpe University Saturday afternoon for its final event of the 2009 season and came away with a 10th place finish.
Freshman
Hugo Cordova completed the 8k race in 70th place with a team-leading time of 28:37.40. Fellow freshman
Tim Gillis crossed the finish line in 83rd place with a time of 30:48.40.
Sophomore David Bastian and senior Alex Cummings finished side-by-side in 91st and 92nd, respectively, while freshman
Hunter Bondurant (95th) and
Jessie Lee Painter (97th) along with senior Andrew Fleming (98th) rounded out the finishers for Millsaps.
Behind the 2009 SCAC Men's Runner of the Year Jackson Brainerd's first-place finish, the Colorado College Tigers earned their second SCAC title in four years. Brainerd completed the 8K course with a time of 24:29.60 to set a new record at the conference championship.
