CLINTON – For the second time this season, the Millsaps College volleyball team (13-12) defeated its cross-town rival Mississippi College 3-0 to sweep the season series Tuesday night at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Led by junior
Kate Hall’s team-leading 12 kills, Millsaps won a close opening set 25-21 before taking the second set 25-20. With momentum on the side of the visiting Majors, they were able to close out the match in the third set with a decisive 25-15 victory.
Sophomore’s
Kasey Laird and
Maggie Tumminello added nine kills each for the offense while senior
Dixie Krauss and junior
Hailey Miranda contributed 18 and 12 digs, respectively. Miranda also served two aces for the Majors.
Winners of seven of their last eight non-conference matches, the Majors are starting to play some of their best volleyball after an extended layoff as they now prepare for the final weekend of SCAC action.
Currently 7th place in the conference, Millsaps looks to move up in the standings before the start of the conference tournament with four critical matches Saturday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 25 in another SCAC Cross-Divisional in Danville, Ky., at host Centre College.
