JACKSON - A deflected free kick in the 18th minute off the wall of the Majors' defense allowed Trinity's Brianna Young to tap in the rebound and send the 6th-ranked Tigers to a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Harper Davis Field.
Trinity stayed unbeaten at 9-0 (2-0 SCAC) and goalkeeper Katie Garrett earned her league-leading eighth shutout, while Millsaps dropped to 6-4-3 (1-3-2 SCAC).
Young's goal in the 18th minute provided the only scoring of the match, as neither team could find the back of the net the final 72 minutes of regulation. TU owned a 14-5 shots advantage (5-1 SOG), firing off seven each half.
Sarah Nelin had a solid game in the net for Millsaps despite the loss, saving four shots and getting banged up all day after coming out of the crease to defend the goal.
Millsaps will continue a four-match homestand on Oct. 20, hosting MS College at 7 p.m.
