Majors Compete Well in MC Watson Ford Invitational

CLINTON – Being at the same meet along with some of the top Division I runners in Mississippi, the Millsaps College men’s and women’s cross country teams both had strong showings at the MC Watson Ford Invitational held at Mississippi College.

Senior Taylor Weglicki had another strong showing for the Majors in the men's 8K, placing first for Millsaps with a time of 29:52.51. Lloyd Gray was just behind his teammate, placing 17th with a time of 30:54.01. Ben McNair also finished well for Millsaps, finishing the race with a time of 40:43.56. Unfortunately for the men’s team, they did not have enough numbers yet again to place as a team.

As for the women’s team, they had another strong showing on a 6K course, finishing third out of four teams that placed. Sophomore Anna Johnson continued her strong running this season for the Majors with a second place finish and a time of 25:13.52.

Anna Allred and Maria Greene finished the race 16th and 17th for Millsaps. Also placing was Natalie Rebentisch (22nd place, 30:10.48), Kate Garand (28th place, 33:33.29) and Carmen Beck (30th place, 47:13.41).

The Majors will now race in the Mississippi College Open this Saturday at 9 and 9:30 a.m.
