MEMPHIS, Tenn. – On what turned out to be a beautiful day for a cross country meet, both the men’s and women’s teams finished their respective seasons on a strong note as they competed in the SCAC Championships hosted by Rhodes College.
For the first time all year, the men’s squad had enough runners to qualify in a meet, finishing 10th amongst the 10-team field.
Crossing the finish line first for the Majors was Taylor Weglicki, who has been leading the team all year. Weglicki finished in 53rd overall with a time of 29:44. Right behind his teammate yet again was Lloyd Gray who finished with a time of 30:14.
As for the women’s team, they were able to finish 9th amongst a field of 10, with Anna Johnson finishing with a personal best time of 23:59. Senior Anna Allred had another strong race with a time of 27:47 to close up her collegiate career with the Majors.
With the loss of only three seniors, expect for head coach Beverly Brower to have both teams prepared to come into the 2009 season stronger than they have been previously.
