Lady Majors Run Strong in USM Invitational
HATTIESBURG - In the Majors' second event in as many weeks, Maria Greene crossed the finish line first out of three runners for Millsaps, finishing with a time of 25:43.10 in the Southern Mississippi Invitational 5K Run on Saturday.

Tulane University proved to be no match for the competition, occupying the Top 4 spots in the final results, with Aubrey Phillips crossing the tape first at 19:08.98 followed by Rebecca Coady, Laurie Darlymple and Jill Shriver at 20:47.81.

The Green Wave finished nearly 13 minutes ahead of the overall competitors, averaging 20:13.75 between their eight runners in a field of 90 participants.

Zuna Portillo finished in the fifth spot for the host Eagles with a time of 21:02.97.

For Millsaps, Greene finished 52nd in front of teammates Ivy Settlemires (56th) with a time of 26:18.54 and Anna Allred (69th) with a pace of 28:32.36.

Fellow Mississippi competitors included Jackson State, Mississippi College, Delta State, Alcorn State and Tougaloo College.

The Majors will take a week off before the Mississippi State meet in Starkville on Sept. 22.
